Silas' Homebirth Story

Image
You may want to grab some popcorn and get cozy because I didn't leave any details out! There are pictures at the end so hang with me! :)                  Friday, October 5th was homecoming for the Perryton Rangers football team and Justin and I took our last date (unknowingly) as a married couple without kids to the game that night. We came home and watched tv until about 1:00 am. Terrible decision! 4:30am of October 6th gets here and my water breaks. I was 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I wanted to be sure it was really my water so I laid back down for a while and timed my contractions. They were about 30-45 seconds long about about 2 minutes apart but definitely feeling different than the Braxton Hicks contractions that I had gotten so used to. I laid in bed and shook for a good 10-15 minutes (I think from the hormones getting ready for birth). After I decided I was in real labor, I got up and spent some time on my birth ball and called the midwife. She lives 2 hours away

The end of the pregnancy road

So on the last blog post I wrote, I said that I would keep up better. What do you know? I didn't! So, here I am now.. 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Only 3 days away from my due date! We have been busy getting prepared for our little guy's big arrival! We decided before we ever got pregnant that a home birth is for us. After I showed the positive test to Justin way back in January, we knew that that was still what we wanted. We met with a midwife early in the year from Amarillo and hired her and she has been coming to do prenatal appointments in our home ever since. The pregnancy has been fairly normal with all the fun symptoms: nausea, morning sickness, exhaustion, food aversions, food cravings, leg cramps, body aches and on and on. I have had a few scares with Braxton Hicks contractions (practice contractions) once in March and 2 more times since but that is the only thing that has really been unusual with my pregnancy. I have been through a 9 month long journey of physical

Well much has happened since the last time I've blogged! We have taken a trip to Las Vegas for my birthday in March, a trip to Dallas in the first week of May to find out baby's gender, finished the hardest semester of college I've EVER had, had a gender reveal party with our closest family and friends, took a trip to Denver this past weekend to visit with Justin's family and celebrated Justin's 23rd birthday and our 2 year anniversary last week! Not to mention that work has been crazy busy with all of the graduating high school seniors! Oh, and we bought a car in the mix there somewhere too! I'll post some photos of our adventures from the past few months just to catch y'all up! Vegas was an absolute blast!! Justin & I even came home with some extra cash!! Yay for blackjack!:) Our first sonogram in Dallas at 18 weeks!!   One of the photos from our gender reveal party (I'll write a whole post later on the party)

New home + New midwife//2012

Well the past two weeks have just been CRAZY for the Cole family! We found out about baby two weeks ago today, Justin started a whole new job, we (after many many prayers) finally got a duplex and have painted it and moved in, and met with a midwife in Amarillo. Whew!   The idea of having a new addition has really begun to sink in and we are both more and more excited every day. It's so fun to talk with Justin about dreams for our family. We get to talk about how we want to decorate the nursery and what baby names we love and I get all dreamy eyed every time we pass Babies R Us and the crib aisle in Wal-Mart. It is just a blast.   Justin was working at our local bank as a teller but it really wasn't working out so he got a job working for the city. He has worked for just over a week and so far he really likes it. Justin really enjoys getting to spend time outside (except for today because it's cold, windy and snowing!!). I am so proud of him taking on a whole new type o

So, we finally finished telling all the parents and immediate family that we are going to have a baby! All the different reactions were priceless! After we celebrated my mother-in-law, Sherry's, birthday, we sent out an online announcement to grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Then we got to share with all of our friends on Facebook! It's so fun! I truly feel so blessed to have all the support and love from family and friends. It means so much to me!  I'll post a few pictures of the beginning of our new adventure with Baby Cole!! I'm Brittany. I'm married to the man of my dreams, Justin and we just found out that we are going to have our FIRST BABY!!!!  What an exciting time in our lives! We have been married just over a year and a half and we were definitely not expecting this surprise but we couldn't be happier!!  Justin and I met at youth group when I was 13 and he was 15. We ended up sort of being high school sweethearts and got engaged the summer after I graduated high school. We moved to Dallas, Texas and went to a bible school called Christ for the Nations Institute. After our first year there, we got married. We graduated CFNI that May 2011 and moved back home to Perryton, Texas. We have had an awesome adventure thus far and I can't wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us.  We got to tell my parents the good news first and they were thrilled! There were lots of hugs and "really?!"& "for real?!"s. Next were our mentors, Nolan and Salem! I couldn'
